Our skin, the largest organ in the body and its first line of defense against infection, can present a supreme paradox of conflicting issues. While the skin is often viewed as a barrier, it really acts more like a sponge, absorbing a multitude of common chemicals we're exposed to daily. We're talking here about inadvertent and undeliberate exposure.

Then we add the deliberate stuff. The average woman, in her lifetime, will ingest about four pounds of lipstick. We're not going to horrify you with the details of how it's made, and of what. No one really knows for certain how many chemicals affect us over time, or how they react in our bodies in combination with each other. There are some well known dangers and these chemicals are to be avoided.

Phthalates, for example, are a class of hormone disrupter that no woman of child bearing age should ingest. They're commonly found in artificial fragrances and they cause birth defects, sperm damage, and the feminization of baby boys. That's what is known about them at this time

The USFDA has a list of some 10,500 cosmetic and skin care ingredients in common use by the cosmetics industry. Almost 90% of these skincare products have never been evaluated for safety by the FDA; not by the Cosmetic Ingredient Review Board, or by any publicly accountable institution.

Well, of course manufacturers of cosmetics and skincare products are hardly interested in depleting their customer base by plying us with harmful and destructive skincare products. But complex chemicals in cosmetics, with potential unknown side effects, should really lead us to follow the Precautionary Principle; that is, if you won't eat it, don't put it on your skin!

Hope springs eternal and most of us will pay any amount within reach for the blessing of flawless skin. And the cosmetics and skincare products manufacturers are eager to accommodate us. With promises.

Now consider this: Most of a cosmetic manufacture's costs are in the packaging of the product and in bringing it to market. Nearly always, the cost of the packaging exceeds the cost of the ingredients by far. Add to that the advertising expense and all ancillary marketing costs, and you can easily see that there is little money in the package for the cost of the ingredients. So they take shortcuts. Lots of them. And the consumer pays.

That seems to leave us with three choices. One: We can continue to hope for the best and keep on buying the stuff on the strength of a marketing firm's high powered presentation of the allegedly fabulous results obtainable with this brand new and improved elixer of beauty. Two: We can learn to make our own natural skin care products, emulating the high priced salons that do just that. Doing this can save us a bundle and it isn't all that difficult. Insulin Potentiated Therapy: A True Stage IV Cancer Therapy

Often referred to as low dose chemotherapy, Insulin Potentiated Therapy is rapidly becoming a vexing nuiscance to our conventional chemo business here in the U.S. IPT is a treatment that cures cancer decisively, using only about 10% of the chemo drug dosages usually applied by our mainstream oncologists. IPT accomplishes a cancer cure with barely - if any - noticeable side effects and at greatly reduced cost to the patient. Actually, the cost can be measured at roughly 10% of the cost of conventional chemotherapy, even if the patient splurges on travel and accomodations involved with receiving this treatment.

Widely practiced in Germany and other nations, IPT is beginning to make inroads on the highly profitable American chemo business. This is causing their lackeys, the FDA, Quackwatch, and other beneficiaries to issue hysterical warnings based on nothing but wild conjecture. This is an evil therapy that is threatening their profits big time as it successfully cures patient after patient of cancer's life threatening wretchedness.

Insulin Potentiation Therapy is a true stage IV cancer alternative. Working very much in the manner of DMSO cancer therapy IPT uses a combination of two so called orthodox drugs, insulin, and a chemotherapy drug. This is because cancer cells are always very hungry for insulin and will absorb it ravenously. So insulin works kind of like a "targeting agent" in that it will be very readily absorbed by the cancer cells and any other drug is riding on it, will be absorbed along with the insulin. This allows the chemo drug to get right to the cancer cells instead of meandering throughout the body, wreaking its havoc on every healthy cell it encounters on the way.

Insulin itself was first isolated from pancreatic tissue in Canada in the early 1920s. There they began using it as a treament for diabetes, closely followed by Europe and the United States during the early 1930s. Soon it began being used to produce a short term coma in patients with schizophrenia in a futile attempt to cure them. This method of treatment was abandoned during the 1950s.

Around the time this was going on, Dr Donato Perez Garcia, in Mexico, began conducting experimenal treatments of cancer with IPT. Other doctors followed. The one thing that set Dr Garcia apart from the others was that, although his patients universally suffered somewhat severe reactions to the insulin, none of them fell into a coma. Ohers used the method in such a way that patients continued to fall into shjort term comas. However in all instances, the results sought, cure or remission of cancer, were obtained.

Today, no one undergoing IPT need be concerned about falling into a coma. That danger is deep in history. The objection to IPT by the conventional medicine clique has no bearing on the facts and no justification. IPT is a safe, effective weapon against cancer Insulin Potentiated Therapy is one of the safest, most innovative approaches to treating cancer currently in existence. It is practiced rouutinely and with resounding success in Europe and Latin America while being vigorously suppressed in the U.S. This alternative cancer treatment has almost none of the side effects such as nausea, hair loss, liver damage, and DNA distortion commonly seen in conventional chemotherapy. In IPT, the body's own hormone, is used as the key to a cancer cure.

Insulin manages the delivery of glucose across cell membranes into the cells. Cancer cells have roughly 15 rimes the number of insulin receptors on their surface than healthy cells, inviting insulin to attach to these receptors as an iron bar to a magnet. This process opens channels in the cancer cell, allowing nutients into the cell - and along with those nutrients, any medication or drug riding on them.

The key to this is the extreme need the cancer cell has for sugar. When insulin is administered, the patient's blood sugar level drops like a rock! Healthy cells then shift over to fat metabolism, but cancer cells are unable to do that. They rely almost entirely on sugar metabolism, and when deprived of sugar they go into emergency mode and open all of their membranes in order to get the sugar they so desperately need. To fill that need then, a nice dose of glucose is given to the patient intravenously, along with a lethal dose - lethal to the cancer cells - of chemo drugs. Very little chemo drug is needed because every bit of the drug goes directly to the cancer cells and does not meander through the body raising havoc indiscriminately among healthy cells. IPT uses about 10% of the chemo drugs used in conventional chemotherapy.

In standard chemotherapy, insulin is not used to open the cells. Patients are given insanely large doses of chemo drugs, billed out at enormous mark ups by the way, - which all but kill the immune system as the make their way, randomly killing, damaging, or distorting any and all cells they contact. The side effects are horrendous and unnecessary and the only good thing to be said about this approach is that it is very profitable for the oncologist.

How do I know if I'm having a heart attack? Or a stroke? In discussing this matter with a number of doctors, several cardiologists among them, common factors repeatedly came up. HEART ATTACK
To answer the question: How do I know if I'm having a heart attack? All doctors answered this question with a common response. "You almost can't miss it!" Most went on to add that you cannot miss the signs of a heart attack at all if you pay attention. Unfortunately, many people ignore the signs; an all too often fatal mistake. It is depressing to see how many people die of a heart attack simply because they waited too long to get help.

Some people have a good old "movie type" heart attack. Often those are the lucky ones because everyone around them is galvanized into action; 911 is called, an ambulance carries the victim with sirens blaring to the nearest trauma center where it is met by a team of highly skilled medics who know exactly what they're doing and how to intervene successfully.

The problem here is that these spectacular heart attacks are in the decided minority. Most heart attacks start slowly, with mild discomfort. More often than not, the victim isn't sure what's wrong and waits too long to get help. So here are the signs that can mean a heart attack is on its way.

CHEST DISCOMFORT - DON'T IGNORE IT!
Most heart attacks involve discomfort in the center of the chest that lasts more than a few minutes. Often it will go away and come back again. This discomfort can feel like uncomfortable pressure, squeezing, fullness, and even pain. And, while women don't have an exclusive on this, they are more likely than men to experience shortness of breath, nausea/vomiting, and back or jaw pain.

Other symptoms to look for are discomfort in other areas of the upper body; pain and discomfort in one or both arms (forget the thing about just the left arm), the back, or the jaw.

So if you or someone you're with has chest discomfort, especially with one or more of the other signs, don't wait more than five minutes before calling for help. And don't drive yourself or the victim to the hospital. Call 911 and have an ambulance do it. It's the fastest way of getting help. Patients arriving in a screaming ambulance always receive immediate attention without going through all the normal paperwork gymnastics. And if, after all the tests have been done, it turns out to be a false alarm, not to be embarrassed. Doctors all agree; staff will be happy to send you on your way in good health, respectful of your prudence in getting checked out.

STROKE
Essentially, stroke is a disruption of blood flow to the brain. Stroke is caused by a blockage or bleeding of a blood vessel. Areas of the brain that are affected by such a blockage can be severely damaged within minutes. The effects of a stroke range from mild to severe; temporary or permanent. It all depends on which brain cells are involved, how much damage is done, and how quickly the blood supply is restored. Symptoms of a stroke are sudden, rarely they are not felt at all, and most usually they include one or more of the following:

Sudden numbness, paralysis, or weakness in the face or limb on one side of the body.
Problems with walking or balance that weren't there before.
A sudden change of vision
Slurred speech, drooling.
Confusion, difficulty in understanding simple questions.
A sudden severe headache of unfamiliar character.

Anyone experiencing these symptoms needs immediate medical attention. Not all of these symptoms occur with every stroke, and any one of these signs should not be ignored even if it goes away. It is important to check the time when the first warning sign occurred. The doctor will want to know this. If you're attending a person with symptoms of a stroke, expect to be met with denial. That's common. Call emergency services for an ambulance over the protests of anyone with symptoms of a stroke. Prompt action can minimize the damage.

The principle reason that hemp cannot be legally grown in the United States has nothing to do with its perceived detrimental health effects. There are countless products being legally marketed that carry much greater deleterious health effects than cannabis.

Sometime around the turn of the 20th century, hemp products began to appear as construction materials. Building studs and joists, panels, and siding, all made of compressed hemp began making inroads on the lumber market. The materials were lighter, stronger, impervious to termites, not subject to dry rot, and to top it all off, the stuff was a lot cheaper than lumber.

Well, the lumber industry couldn't let that go on. Hemp products were threatening their profits big time. So they .lobbied congress to outlaw it. And congress, always eager to please those who pay them, did so. And the growing of hemp has been outlawed ever since, which makes it very convenient for the opponents of marijuana use to initiate laws prohibiting it

And the resulting official marijuana policies are dangerous, wrong, and destined to continued failure of their stated objectives. Millions of Americans smoke pot regularly as international drug cartels, violent gangs, and street pushers reap enormous profits.

Well, marijuana cannot be patented. The pharmaceutical industry has been trying unsuccessfully for years, to isolate the factors that cause marijuana to work its magic, so they can work them up into a patentable, and marketable drug. Way back in 1974, the National Institute of Health funded research at Medical College of Virginia. Their mission was to prove the contention that marijuana damages the immune system. In funding this research, the NIH was destined to be roundly disappointed - they effectively shot themselves in the foot. Rather than receiving confirmation and supporting evidence of their contention, the NIH people were annoyed to learn that the MCV researchers found instead, that THC, the active ingredient in cannabis, undeniably slowed the growth of three kinds of cancer in mice.

Since this failed miserably in bolstering the government's case against marijuana, in their view the most noxious of all weeds, and in fact proved just the opposite, the DEA came charging into the fray, banners flying, trumpets blaring. They shut down the Virginia study along with all other cannabis tumor research.

Not to be outdone in the public assault on a useful albeit often misused plant and substance, President Gerald Ford got on the bandwagon in 1976, and put an end to all cannabis research while simultaneously granting that right exclusively to the maniacally delighted pharmaceutical industry.

Then again, in 1983, in accommodation to intense lobbying and reception of massive campaign contributions, the Reagan/Bush administration tried hard to persuade American Universities and researchers to destroy all of the 1966-76 cannabis research work, including compendiums in libraries. They were partially successful. Large amounts of information have disappeared.

But all this negative effort is like trying to hold back the dawn. The facts keep cropping up in spite of the best efforts of vested interests to bury them. In February of 2000, another confirmation of marijuana's cancer fighting abilities came out of Madrid. Researchers there had destroyed incurable brain cancer tumors in rats by injecting them with THC. This confirmed the earlier Virginia study.

The news of this discovery has been virtually non-existent in the United States. The New York Times ignored the story. So did the Washington Post and the Los Angeles Times. These papers receive major advertising revenues from the pharmaceutical industry, which by the way, employs two lobbyists for each and every member of congress.

As public pressure to allow the use of medicinal marijuana continues to build, more and more politicians are being induced to taking a closer look at the facts. Its strong support by patients and medical professionals is beginning to be felt. More and more states are adopting compassionate laws toward medicinal marijuana as many patients clamor for the substance to relieve the symptoms and side effects of chemo.

The nausea, vomiting, pain, and insomnia that are typically a consequence of conventional cancer therapy, cripple a patient's quality of life. Marijuana, smoked, vaporized, infused in teas, or baked in foods, can dramatically restore a patient's place in the world. Noting this has induced the entire oncology community to endorse its use.

Medicinal marijuana is not without its own side effects. Anxiety, drowsiness, dry mouth, slow reaction times, and loss of short term memory are among them. Patients using this substance for medicinal purposes will experience varying side effects. Everyone reacts differently to its use and it is very important to buy marijuana from an authorized source. Other drugs or harmful substances are often added by unscrupulous criminal dealers.

Doctors treating cancer patients are in critical need to be kept informed of all drugs taken by their patients, including marijuana, over-the-counter, prescription, or homeopathic remedies. It's very important to keep in mind that marijuana, at this point, is not a form of treatment and is not curative. Osteoporosis And The Cure Big Pharma Wants to Bury

Exactly 100 years ago, a German scientist found that strontium (not to be confused with strontium 90, the radioactive isotope), one of the most abundant minerals on our planet, was uniquely effective in stimulating rapid bone formation. Ten years later, another German researcher concluded that, while calcium itself was effective in mineralizing bone, its effectiveness was magnified exponentially when combined with this particular mineral.

It took until 1952 for these data to be carried forward. Then, a Cornell University research report confirmed the earlier findings. In 1959, the Mayo Clinic achieved astonishingly good results in applying this research to patients with severe osteoporosis, and in 1986 a comprehensive and detailed report appeared confirming strontium's effectiveness at building bone and bone density.

Sadly, all of this research was ignored until about five years ago when suddenly, there was an almost explosive growth of interest in this mineral. Since then, more than 400 peer reviewed articles have been published confirming the near miraculous effects of strontium.

Strontium, chemically similar to calcium, and absorbed in relatively similar amounts, is found in soil, air, water, fish, and nearly all plants. It is the most abundant mineral in seawater. We all normally consume one to five milligrams of this mineral daily without ever being aware of it.

Now pure strontium is chemically unstable, but as found in nature, this mineral is never pure. In general, it is found as strontium carbonate, strontium citrate, and strontium gluconate, among other compounds.

Our bodies have two opposing forces at work. The builders and the destroyers. This is normal and vital to living, but when the destroyer begins to dominate, we run into trouble. That is what happens in osteoporosis. Here we have a developing dominance of the osteoclasts, the cells that break bone down, over the osteoblasts, the cells that build bone up. And as discovered a century ago, strontium and calcium, working together, form a powerful weapon against osteoporosis, with a combined effect of slowing the development of osteoclasts and accelerating the development of their beneficial adversaries, the osteoblasts.

Big Pharma, never to be upstaged by nature, has been working feverishly to develop a product they can patent. What they've come up with is a compound they call strontium ranelate. This is nothing more than natural strontium combined with a synthetic compound called ranelic acid, which doesn't do a whole lot more than make a patentable product. There have been a couple of very well conducted studies on its effects. They showed very positive results from the use of this patented product, but nothing superior to the natural minerals properly used. But the heavy hitters in this field are still the big money makers the pharmaceuticals are foisting off on us in the form of intensely marketed bisphosphonate drugs. They don't work nearly as well as plain old natural strontium and calcium, taken together in relatively equal amounts, and they are getting notorious for producing some horrendous side effects.

The March 2010 Journal of Bone Mineral Research warns that the anti-osteoporosis drugs; the bisphosphonate drugs, suppress the ability of strontium to help rebuild bone - simply because these drugs essentially kill the bone in the first place. However, when a woman stops taking these patent medications, bone remodeling can commence again after a period of at least six months has elapsed.

Another study conducted in the United Kingdom clearly shows the superiority of natural strontium and calcium combinations to the currently overhyped patent medicines, while leaving in question the length of time it will take for bone remodeling to resume after a patient has stopped taking bisphosphonate drugs and begun to substitute a regimen of calcium and natural strontium.

Based on all the recent studies conducted on this subject, it would really seem natural to conclude that this mineral combination is an absolute must have for every post menopausal woman.

For those who want to begin taking these natural products for themselves, current research seems to indicate that 340 to 680 milligrams of elemental strontium provides the best results. It is very very important to take at least an equal amount of calcium along with this mineral, and ideally the amount of calcium taken should exceed the strontium intake

How I Lost Forty Five Pounds in One Year and Kept Them Off For Thirty

General Stanley McChrystal did not originate the one meal a day lifestyle. I did. More than thirty years ago.

My normal weight is 170 pounds. That's what I weigh today. Thirty years ago I weighed 215 and climbing.

My path to permanent weight loss has its beginning inside a Roos Atkins clothing store in San Francisco, where I had come intent on buying bigger pants. Again. Suddenly I stopped, mid stride, turned around and walked back out. No more bigger pants. No more yo yo dieting. For the last time, I was going to lose weight, and it was going to be for the last time because I was going to keep it off.

I'd been through all the diets. They were all good. They all worked. For a while. But nobody stays on a diet permanently and the weight always came back. I had two wardrobes. My fat clothes and my skinny clothes. Mostly I wore my fat clothes. But I always felt better in my skinny clothes.

On that day, as I walked out of that clothing store,the realization punched me in my overweight midriff that regardless of what all the diet pundits claim, there is only one way to lose weight and keep it off. And that way is the simplest way of all. Eat less.

I didn't say it was the easiest way. I said it was the simplest. Often, if not mostly, there is nothing easy about simple.

Eat less! That's the way to lose weight, and to keep it off, we need to continue to do so. No losing the pounds we want to lose and then going back to our old ways. That won't work. The pounds always come back.

Of course that's a lot easier said than done. It requires commitment. It requires a lifestyle change. Well, I was committed and although I hated the thought, I was determined to follow through on that lifestyle change. I set my mind to the concept that from that moment forward, I was going to eat less food and I was going to accomplish that by eating only one meal a day. Instead of trying to worry about exactly what I was going to eat, the way it's done with dieting, I would eat anything that struck my fancy - for that one single meal of the day. And not a morsel was to pass my lips before or afterward. Also, I wasn't going to start tomorrow - I was going to start now! And since I'd already eaten breakfast and lunch, I would not eat again until tomorrow.

I was ravenous in the morning and had a big breakfast. It was tough not eating anything for the rest of the day. I drank gallons of water. But I made it until breakfast next day, when I again had a humongous breakfast. And again, I had to tough it out for the rest of the day. I won't bore you with all the travails I had, but over time, things began getting easier. I stepped on the scale every day, watching the dial show me losing two to four pounds a day. That was gratifying.

I had quit drinking alcoholic beverages too. At the time I was heavily involved in fraternal affairs and attended dinner meetings every week or so. I stood around during the cocktail hour, nursing a glass of club soda. You have no idea what it's like to be the only sober person in a room full of drunks! That was particularly hard.

Had I been totally undeviating, I could have lost the entire forty five pounds I wanted to lose in about ten weeks, this way. But I was in this for the long term, like permanently, and I knew I could not keep this up forever. That's just not realistic. I was thinking about lifesyle here, and who wants to live like that? So I sort of "fell off the wagon" once in a while. Weekends I indulged. Had a few martini's with my wife, ate an extra pizza, gained back some of the weight I'd lost during the week But always, on a monday morning, I was down a couple of pounds from the previous monday morning. That was steady, and I saw myself steadily losing weight. At the end of a year I had it. I weighed 168 pounds. Perfect.

By then I was so much in the habit of living this way that I could no longer imagine going back to my old ways. I didn't want to. I felt good! Eating only one meal a day was no longer a burden. I didn't really want to eat any more than that.and I could watch my wife indulge without a qualm

Of course, it should go without saying that I"ve been taking supplements since day one. It's important to get the vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients you need. No matter how much you eat of today's available foods, the way they're produced today, no matter how careful you may be, You're bound to be missing out on something, and I'm taking no chances. So I take supplements. Lots of them.

I don't even feel the need to indulge on weekends anymore. It's all about habit. One meal a day is entirely adequate. I eat anything I want; no need to worry about dietary menus, but of course I try to stay with healthful, nourishing foods. No junk food! And no in between snacks. I don't miss them. I don't want them. Except sometimes. Then I allow myself something extra with the full knowledge and determination that this is a deviation that cannot be allowed to continue beyond once. If it is, if I start overeating again, it's back to the fat clothes.

Oleander, The Cancer Cure That's Fightening Our Orthodox Cancer Industry

The Salud Integral Clinic in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, has been treating patients previously diagnosed with terminal cancer since 2001. Many patients from the U.S. have made the pilgrimage and returned home free of cancer. Patients told by their doctors that there was nothing more to be done, have gone to Honduras and returned home either completely cured or in dramatic remission.

So what is the secret? Well, there isn't any. The USFDA knows all about it, but in deference to our own massive pharmaceutical and cancer industries, they maintain the position that the medication used by the Salud Clinic is "an unproven medicine." This in spite of studies world wide, past and present, from multiple sources, showing clearly that the medication routinely induces death in human cancer cells without harm to the patient.

The FDA "protects" us from the potential harmful effects of this medication while roundly ignoring the toxicity study performed on 28 Beagle dogs at Southern Research Institute, Birmingham Alabama. No clinical signs of toxicity were noted in this study. Another lethality assessment in mice, conducted at Southern Research Institute, San Antonio, Texas, showed no pathological signs or ill effects. In April of 2000, the FDA approved a study of this medication in patients with advanced solid tumors. The study was conducted under the direction of Ronald Buckowski MD at The Cleveland Clinic, in Cleveland Ohio. The abstract of their findings states that the medication can be safely administered at specific dosages, although no dose limiting toxicities were found.

This medication is far from a recent discovery. As far back as the 8th century AD, Arab physicians were using an extract of the poisonous Oleander plant to treat cancer. And that is where the hangup is. That is what gives the FDA the excuse to prevent an effective medication from upsetting the commercial balance of the orthodox health care community. The medication utilized at the Salud Clinic is a Nerium Oleander Extract (NOE) developed by Dr Huseyin Ozel at the State Hospital near Mugla, Turkey. Dr Ozel took out a patent on this extract during the 1970s, calling it Anvirzel.

The USFDA is not alone in its zealous obstruction of progress and innovation in health care. When Dr Ozel received his patent for Anvirzel, the full wrath of the Turkish conventional medical establishment descended on him. They had him arrested and placed on trial for "quackery."

But they were to be denied any satisfaction. Dr Ozel had been treating terminal cancer patients with his extract for some time, bringing many back from the brink of death. Now they came to court in force, testifying vehemently in Dr Ozel's defense. Dr Ozel prevailed. And thus was born Dr Ozel's Oleander cure for cancer. Except that the FDA still stubbornly refuses to accept it, continuing to label it as "unproven."

This in spite of the tests conducted in Europe during 1986 and 1987, confirming the effect of NOE on the immune system as well as on cancer. The studies then showed that NOE was at least six times as potent as the most active commercially available immune stimulants. And in 1988, a research team at the Munich University Pharmacology Institute attempted unsuccessfully to isolate the active components of NOE. Although several compounds were isolated and identified as possibly being beneficial for the immune system, nothing definitive emerged. The conclusion was that NOE needed to be used as is, further defying any attempts at developing an exclusive pharmaceutical.

So the FDA needs to content itself with simply blocking the marketing of NOE as much as possible. They keep falling back on the irrational reason that raw Oleander is toxic and insist on proof that NOE is not. Clinical studies and hundreds of patients turned back from death's door don't enter into this equation. The expensive and often mindless "studies" must be conducted over interminable time lines until, hopefully, the applicant runs out of money. Which is what happened to Ozelle Pharmaceuticals. Their Phase I FDA Trials were conducted with resounding success. Then they ran out of money. It is expected to take years to get Anvirzel through all the FDA trials.

Meanwhile, in 2001, Phoenix Biotech obtained a patent for Anvirzel in Honduras and treatment has been on going there ever since. Cancer Strategies: The Failure And Success of Opposing Cancer Therapies

When Senator Hubert Humphrey (D - Minn) died of bladder cancer in 1978 it certainly wasn't from the lack of adequate treatment. Senator Humphrey was one of the staunchest supporters of orthodox cancer research on Capitol Hill and had access to the finest and most advanced medical care in America.

And it was not because he had gone undiagnosed for too long and that when discovered, the cancer had spread beyond recall. Senator Humphrey's doctors discovered his cancer twelve years before he died, in 1966. And from that moment forward, he was treated with the very best of what orthodox medicine fondly refers to as "proven" methods. These "proven" methods claim a very high cure rate.

They keep patients alive for a full five years after diagnosis. Those are the statistics. Five years is 1,825 days. Any patient that dies on day 1,826 is off the radar and is recorded as cured. So much for statistics. But it can be argued that Senator Humphrey survived a full twelve years after his cancer was discovered. Well, not quite. Here's what happened:

In 1966, doctors found tiny growths in his bladder. They classified these growths as non-malignant. They were at that time, no bigger than pinheads. He was not diagnosed with cancer until 1973. Right there, orthodox medicine had dropped the ball.

To treat his cancer, doctors administered radiation therapy, which when concluded, they pronounced a success and credited themselves with a cure. To be absolutely certain, they followed Senator Humphrey with urology examinations every six months, until in May of 1976, Dr Dabney Jarman declared that he found no reason to prescribe further treatment for the condition (New York Times, May 6, 1976). Not long after that, the cancer was back. With a vengeance.

On October 6, 1976, Senator Humphrey was operated on by a team of surgeons at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Clinic. Chief surgeon, Willard Whitmore MD then appeared before the press and television cameras at a crowded news conference and solemnly declared, "As far as we are concerned, the Senator is cured" (New York Times, October 8, 1976). He added that 70% of patients who had undergone this operation have had no recurrence of their cancer.

As a preventive measure, to wipe out any microscopic colonies of cancer cells that may be hidden somewhere in the body (here's where they admit that surgery does not cure cancer), the Senator's doctors commenced treatment with then experimental, chemo drugs. Within a year, Senator Humphrey was dead. In that short time, Senator Humphrey had withered from a vigorous middle-aged man to an old and feeble cancer victim. The Senator himself blamed chemotherapy for at least making a significant contribution to his demise, calling it "bottled death," and he refused to return to Memorial Sloan Kettering for more drug treatments.

In the Senator's case, the "proven" orthodox strategy of cut, burn, and poison proved remarkably ineffective. And Senator Humphrey is not alone. Countless patients have their cancers detected early, are treated early with the "proven" therapies of surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy, and ... die!

But such cases are soon forgotten in the deluge of favorable publicity over such successful treatments as those of President Ronald Reagan.The problem with this, though, is that while President Reagan was treated for cancer by these orthodox, "proven" methods, the President, in the end, went to Germany to get cured.

President Reagan was wracked with cancer. He had prostate cancer, colon cancer, skin cancer. Here in America, surgery was used to deal with it, and largely failed, although at first it appeared to be successful But then, in 1985, in a little publicized trip to Germany, under severely downplayed conditions in which his reasons for traveling there were not revealed, Ronald Reagan was treated for cancer by Dr Hans Nieper, in Hanover.

And he came home cured. The naysayers are quick to point out that the cancer seems to have come back, but the fact remains that when Ronald Reagan died in June of 2004 at the age of 93, he did not die of cancer.

Chemotherapy as practiced in the U.S. is well known to cause massive hair loss. When the President returned after being treated for cancer in Germany, he had lost no hair and in all other appearances, he was his normal vigorous self. And after defeating his cancer the German way, President Reagan went on to live for another 19 years.

President Reagan never shared his story of cancer treatment with his fellow Americans. Many other celebrities have gone to Germany to rid themselves of cancer Among them a U.S. Senator, and European Royalty. Liz Taylor, Suzanne Somers, Anthony Quinn, William Holden, and Princess Caroline have all chosen Germany's kinder, gentler treatments.

Around the time of President Reagan's trip to Germany for his cancer therapy, the National Cancer Institute had published a pamphlet advising people about how to spot a "cancer quack." One of their profound admonitions was: "Beware of any doctor who links cancer to diet."

That statement left the NCI with egg on its face after President Reagan returned from his successful cancer therapy in Germany. Dr Nieper had ordered the President to change his diet. And this caused the entire American orthodox cancer establishment to change its views on cancer and diet.

As successful cancer therapy around the world becomes more and more known and understood by the American public, how will the profit driven cancer industry respond? That question remains to be answered. The leading cause of cancer related deaths world wide is Pancreatic Cancer. The disease has a very poor prognosis and carries a virtual death sentence along with it. In the United States alone, 33,000 new cases of pancreatic cancer are expected to be diagnosed each year. Chemotherapy, radiation, immunotherapy generally have little effect in controlling pancreatic cancer, and new strategies to control this disease are sorely needed.

Several studies have produced the view that a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, or certain herbs may be protective against various human malignancies, including pancreatic cancer. And this is an area where Indian medicine is light years ahead of us in the U.S. Since 2002, the Amala Cancer Research Center in India, under the direction of Dr Ramadas Ruttan, has been studying the efficacy of Triphala, a blend of three specific fruits common to India. Triphala is commonly known throughout Asia as the King of Medicines., due to the wide range of ailments Ayurvedic practitioners treat with it.

During 2006 follow up studies, scientists discovered that Triphala can induce cytotoxicity in cancerous tumor cells while sparing normal, healthy cells. Further studies then revealed that Triphala also killed cancer cells before they could spread, preventing metastasis. In April of 2007, The University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute released its findings of a study confirming that Triphala caused pancreatic cancer cells to die through a process known as apoptosis - the body's normal method of disposing of damaged or unneeded cells. This process of apoptosis is often faulty in cancer cells.

The investigators went a step further and looked at the individual fruits in the Triphala blend: Amla, Bibipaki, Haritaki; fruits unique to India. While the Triphala blend of the three fruits triggered cancerous cells to die off, significantly reducing the size of tumors, using the individual components of the blend did not yield any corresponding result. In all cases where Triphala was used successfully, side effects were virtually non-exixtent and no healthy cells were damaged.

The Cancer Business and Laetrile: Why We Still Don't Have a Cure for Cancer

Even as a kid, Ralph Moss had held a deep admiration for the scientists dedicated to searching for a cancer cure. These researchers held a slightly higher position on his admiration scale than even the Brooklyn Dodgers could command. So it was a dream come true when in 1974, he landed a job as a science writer at the prestigious Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. To be a part of the winning team that finally defeated cancer was the ultimate achievement he could ever have hoped for.

Part of his job was to write press releases for the media about cancer news. So in the normal course of a day's work, he interviewed Dr Kanematsu Sugiura. Dr Sugiura, a widely recognized scientist with impressive credentials, had repeatedly gotten positive results shrinking tumors in mice with a natural substance called amygdalin; a substance that today is commonly known as laetrile. This event, it turned out, set him up to see a side of the cancer business he had not, in his wildest dreams, imagined.

In submitting the proposed article about Dr Sugiura's work to his superiors, he received the shock ofhis life. He was ordered to abandon the project immediately and never address it again! His objections fell on deaf ears. The validity of Dr Sugiura's work was of no consequence.

LYING TO THE PUBLIC - PART OF THE CANCER BUSINESS

Ralph Moss had been given a career ending order. He had been ordered to lie! He had been ordered to write an article and press release for all major news media, emphatically stating that amygdalin studies were negative and that the substance was worthless for cancer treatment. This under the Sloan Kettering Banner.

In the hope that the whole thing would blow over, Ralph Moss failed to comply. He had the truth in his possession. The entire situation inspired him to take a closer look at his bosses. And the nagging question haunted him: Why would anyone want to suppress such positive results of cancer research? He went on, quietly searching for answers, and his files grew thick. Here's what he learned:

Sloan Kettering's Board of Directors was dominated by the CEOs of companies producing the worst cancer causing products on the planet.

CEOs of the top pharmaceutical companies producing chemotherapy drugs were prominently represented on the board.

The Sloan Kettering Hospital itself was heavily invested in these drug companies.

Seven of the Hospital's nine members of its Institutional Policy Committee had strong ties to the pharmaceutical industry.

Six of the Directors also served on the Boards of CBS, Warner Communications, and Reader's Digest.

The hospital itself was heavily invested in the stock of these chemo producing drug companies.

So with the media trumpeting every new drug as a "breakthrough," in the "war on cancer," Ralph Moss came to understand very clearly how the profits from chemotherapy drugs were going through the roof. And he continued filing his notes in his office cabinet, not knowing what to do with them. He simply needed to develop an understanding of all this for himself, never entertaining any notions of disseminating any of this information publicly. And it would probably never have gotten out, had it not been for the sheer greed of his employers.

A CAREER COMES TO AN END

Even though pharmaceutical profits were skyrocketing, corporate did not fail to notice that public interest in laetrile was holding steady. They saw themselves losing market share to the laetrile clinics springing up in Mexico. And Sloan Kettering's phone lines were being tied up with callers demanding to know what the hospital thought of it. As a result, Ralph was once again ordered to write up news releases declaring that, after meticulous research and study, the institute had found laetrile to be valueless in the treatment of cancer.

To Ralph Moss, this issue was simply too big to lie about. In November of 1977, he stood up at a press conference and spelled out in painstaking detail, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center's aggressive suppression of the facts surrounding amygdalin. He explained with great care, how all the positive results obtained from their studies of laetril had been carefully held from public view.

Next day he was fired. He arrived at his office to find his files padlocked. Armed guards escorted him out. But fortunately, Ralph Moss had a savvy wife who had squirelled away copies of all his notes. They turned into his first book: The Cancer Industry.

**FLUORIDATED DRINKING WATER: A SERIOUS HAZARD**
*Fluoride* is the source of innumerable health problems, both for people with cancer and those of us who have so far escaped this demon. The health issues caused by fluoride ingestion include neurological damage, destruction of bones and teeth (yes, the same teeth it is said to protect), and degenerative damage to major organs. Of special interest to the cancer patient is fluoride's strong connection to cancer, especially lung cancer, head and neck cancer, and bone cancer. *Dr Russell L. Blaylock MD,* has studied the subject exhaustively and asserts unequivocally that fluoride can *boost the potency of carcinogens and increase tumor growth by as much as 25%.* Because of this startling discovery, Dr Blaylock recommends that we all purify our drinking and cooking water if our community adds fluoride to our water supply. Reverse osmosis is the recommended purification system with filter changes every ninety days because fluoride erodes these filters quickly. Even distilled water purchased from a supplier who distills fluoridated water needs to be filtered through a separate filter to remove the soluble contaminants that are not removed during the distillation process. Particularly notable is the finding that cancer death rates were significantly higher for cities with fluoridated water when compared with cities that did not fluoridate their water suppl;y.This increased rate of cancer cases was especially pronounced among those over 65 years of age. Cancer of the bone in young men and boys was 50% higher in one study of cities with fluoridated water, and in another study, it was *6 times higher!* Fluoride accumulates in the bone, eventually reaching levels that can destroy the bone, a condition called *skeletal fluorosis.* *Fluoride,* even in very small concentrations such as the amounts added to our water supplies under the auspices of misguided politicians, can and do damage our DNA repair enzymes. These repair enzymes *are especially important in preventing cancer!* Individuals with faulty repair enzymes are known to have very high cancer rates. At the very least, all of us should *avoid all fluoridated toothpastes, dental fluoride treatments, and fluoride tablets.* This is especially important for young children, since they can accumulate high concentrations of fluoride in their bones and brains over a lifetime of exposure. Ironically, the reason for fluoridating our water supply is totally baseless. All the large studies comparing cities with fluoridated water supplies to those without this amenity have consistenly and infallibly discovered that the *fluoridated water did not result in any reduction of dental caries, but that the cities with fluoridated water often had even higher cavity rates!* This is because fluoride weakens and eventually destroys the tooth enamel, a condition called dental fluorosis. The argument that dental caries became fewer immediately after the water supply of a community was fluoridated cannot be substantiated on the basis of fluoridation. Increases in nutitional quality and the initiation of public health measures were occuring pretty universally immediately prior to the period where fluoridation became the rage and the incidence of dental caries had begun to fall as a result of this. Fluoridation went along for a ride it did not deserve. Of particular concern with fluoridation is that crops watered with fluoridated water absorb the fluoride. Over time, the concentration of the fluoride becomes significantly greater. Many fruit juices are reconstituted with fluoridated water, with some of them containing fluorides in concentrations far exceeding government safety levels. Cancer patients especially should note this and stay away from commercially prepared and reconstituted fruit juices. NOTE TO ANYONE WITH HYPOTHYROIDISM .If you're hypothyroid you should be aware that fluoride interferes with thyroid function even further and also interferes with any medications you may be taking for this disorder.

HYDROGEN PEROXIDE and CANCER

Studiously overlooked by conventional medicine, hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) is a powerful weapon against cancer. The most fundamental difference between cancer cells and normal cells is that a cancer cell is anaerobic and a normal cell is aerobic. Basically, this means that the cancer cell needs little oxygen to survive (60% less than a normal cell), and it does very poorly in the presence of excessive oxygen. In fact, absent any empirical evidence to the contrary, it seems reasonable to assume that copious amounts of oxygen could be lethal to cancer cells.

This is a grey area that is in need of being investigated further. However, since hydrogen peroxide, ozone, and other oxidative substances cannot be patented, we will be a long time waiting for any meaningful research to appear out of the conventional medicine sector of the health care industry. That leaves it up to the mavericks in alternative medicine; those with the courage to shrug off the disapproval of their conventional peers, to carry the ball forward.

The research into the subject is far from new. More than 50 years ago, Nobel prize winner Dr Otto Warburg demonstrated the difference between cancer cells and normal cells and physicians, intrigued by the findings, have been pursuing ways of destroying cancer cells with oxygen.

And they've made substantial progress; achieved remarkable successes. Today there are many alternative physicians who flatly assert that total control of cancer can be achieved by controlling the oxygen supply to the cancer cells; by overloading them with oxygen!

Today, throughout Europe, and in many other parts of the world, Ozone is being used to successfully and safely defeat cancer. However, here in the U.S., the resistance mounted by the conventional clique has been so overwhelming, the persecution of their alternative peers has been so severe, that none have succeeded in prevailing against this onslaught. The weak argument here is that ozone could be toxic and harmful. Fortunately, hydrogen peroxide is an intrinsic part of the normal body metabolism, and the conventional clique have been unable to mount an effective campaign against it. And so, we're lucky to have many alternative physicians who have educated themselves in its proper administration and offer it to their patients. This therapy involves a series of intravenous infusions which typically last ninety minutes each. The oral intake of hydrogen peroxide is still very controversial and the jury is still out about its effectiveness, but IV infustions of H2O2, hydrogen peroxide, are definitely worth a look if you have cancer. Bear in mind that chemotherapy drugs work on the same principle, as they kill the patient's immune system and ultimately cause an untimely death while appearing to have cured the cancer. If you stop to think about it, you may find it significant that the benchmark of the conventional oncologist is patient survival time of five years. Five years and one day is fine, the oncologist has achieved a "cure."

BUDWIG DIET

A very effective cancer cure, and and it is a cure, is being used quietly and extensively by alternative physicians. Since it is cheap and involves only diet, with no expensive drugs required, the conventional medical community has no interest in it and has virtually been ignoring it for the past 55 years. So ridiculously simple that it seems unbelievable, it has cured thousands of cancer, including a U.S. President, and it has brought hope to people who no longer had any. The diet is based on omega-3 fatty acids and sulfur rich protein. It can be constructed by anyone without need for a doctor, although this is highly inadvisable and most certainly not recommmended by LeQuadrillage. At the time of her discovery, Dr Johanna Budwig was the German Central Government's Senior Expert on fats and pharmaceutical drugs. Dr Budwig found that when unsaturated fats are chemically treated, their unsaturated qualities are destroyed. Dr Budwig also noticed that tumors often form in areas of the body which normally host many growth processes, such as in the skin and the GI tract, and the lack of highly unsaturated fats disturbs proper cell growth, ultimately resulting in the formation of tumors. Dr Budwig went on to discover that a few simple foods could fix the problem. She found that the combination of cottage cheese, rich in sulfur protein, and flaxseed oil, rich in unsaturated fats, produces a chemical reaction which makes the oil water soluble and easily absorbed into the cell membranes. Many studies have subsequently been done on this factor; most of them judiciously buried beyond the public view. Researchers have found that a diet supplemented with flaxseed reduced the formation, growth, and spread of prostate cancer, breast cancer, and skin cancers in mice. In a study with rats, flaxseed was shown to reduce the formation of precancerous colon polyps, and in a study of 15 men, it was determined that a low fat diet along with flax seed slowed the growth of benign prostate cells, thus reducing the risk of developing prostate cancer. The death rate of prostate cancer cells was shown to increase dramatically on the introduction of a low fat diet along with ground flaxseed. And in another study on mice, those on a diet which included flaxseed oil experienced a much slower rate of tumor growth than mice held to a standard diet. I

If you've been diagnosed with cancer and want to try the Budwig Diet by yourself and against our advice, then get your flaxseed oil from the refrigerated section of your local health food store. Try to avoid the high lignan flax seed oils as they don't taste all that great. A very very good label is Barleen's Flax Seed Oil. Dr Budwig recommends mixing 2 tablespoons of cottage cheese with one tablespoon of oil, working your way up gradually to the full daily protocol of six to eight tablespoons of oil. Anyone with pancreatic cancer will need to very carefully and slowly work up to this amount, just one teaspoon at a time. Also, eat lots of fresh fruits, vegetables, nuts, and whole grains. You can indulge in cocoa, organic shredded coconut, and cinnamon too. Avoid sugar and animal fats like the plague. No meat, margarine, butter, salad oils, and stay away from foods high in preservatives. They impede healing. You can have Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Balsamic Vinegar. And do not eat leftovers! All food must be prepared fresh! And you need to eat this immediately on preparation - that's important; you need the electrons before they escape and the enzymes before they die.

Unlike powerful prescription drugs, where one usually feels the effects immediately, natural cures take time and this one is no exception. Expect it to take six months before you see any real positive results. Afterward, when the cancer has resolved itself, it's important to stay on a maintenance dose of one tablespoon of oil for every 100 pounds of body wieght, daily, in order to head off any recurrence. OMEGA-3 OILS AND CANCER

Omega-3 essential fatty acids (EFAs) should be of interest to all cancer patients. Omega-3 fatty acids suppress tumor growth and tumor angeogenesis. Deep sea fish such as wild salmon contain an abundance of Omega-3 oils. While Omega-3s are found in many plants, especially in flax seeds, a cancer patient, or anyone looking to prevent it, would need to eat a whole lot of them to realize any significant result. Men who eat the most Omega-3 oils have the lowest incidence of prostate cancer. Women with the highest DHA levels (docosahexaenoie acid), an intrinsic component of any carefully formulated Omega-3 supplement, in their breast tissue, had the lowest incidence of breast cancer in a number of studies.

Suppressed Cancer Cure - Destroyed Doctor: Why No Doctor Should Attempt To Cure Cancer

In August 2001, NBC headlined the story, The Most Effective Treatment For Aids And Cancer In History! But to this day, we don't have a cure for aids. Or for Cancer? What happened?

The treatment was developed by a doctor who had no relationship with, or loyalty to, the entrenched profit driven medical forces. The treatment he had developed would ultimately fail to bring in revenue in the amounts the cancer business is normally accustomed to receiving. And even worse, this treatment had the potential for actually curing the disease.

Modern medicine is a profit driven industry. If we don't get sick, they don't make money. If we get cured, they stop making money. The cynics in the medical business openly compare hospitals with brothels. "You don't make money unless the beds are full," is the way the head of the largest HMO in the U.S. put it to his colleagues one time.

This is the environment in which Dr Sam Chachoua found himself when he began developing sera and vaccines that would ultimately cure cancer, Alzheimer's Disease, Aids, and damaged heart cells. Any damaged cells were to be targeted by his sera.

Cancer in particular has the stubborn habit of hiding from the immune system. In metastasis, cancer cells will bond with fibrin, the clotting agent in blood, and travel through the body unrecognized by the immune system. Dr Chachoua's sera consisted of concentrated genetic materials that would "tag" cancer cells, making them recognizable by the immune system, which would then attack and kill them.

Dr Chachoua needed to test his formulations, but he did not have the means for doing so. But word of his work got around, and in the hope of disproving it, One major Medical Center agreed to design a program to test what he called his Induced Remission Therapy. The terms were draconian. He was to turn over all his research to them, holding nothing back. Dr Chachuoa had no choice but to agree.

And the results were spectacular. The Center reported a 99% cure rate. This would never do, of course. This treatment was simply too effective and too cheap. The Therapy posed a dire threat to the profit centers of every major hospital in the country.

The Center found an excuse to deny ever having had a relationship with Dr Chachuoa. They denied ever testing his sera and vaccines. One of their principal investigators wrote a paper taking credit for investigating sera and vaccines for curing cancer, claiming much more research was needed.

Dr Chachuoa sued. The trial lasted four years, resulting in a verdict of 11 million dollars in his favor. Then, for some incomprehensible reason, the judge reversed himself on a technicality and cut the award to one percent of that, leaving Dr Chachuoa destitute. But the story was out, and the pharmaceuticals have been unable to stem the tide arising around Dr Chachuora's theories. Expect to read a lot more in the coming days about "genetic cures" coming from pricey pharmaceuticals of the future. And don't expect them to cure anything.

Cancer: Conventional Treatments Falling Short

If you have been diagnosed with cancer by an allopathic (conventional) physician, then the recommended course of treatment is most likely to take the conventional cut-burn-poison route. And you'll be cited the "statistics" of the "cure" rate. These people are all enamored with statistics. You will be given the percentages of patients who have survived these treatments for five years. Meaning they were "cured." Well, five years is 1,825 days and you won't be informed of any patients who died on the 1,826th day because they are off the charts and not counted in the statistics. As soon as 1,825 days of survival have been recorded, the patient is considered cured. What the conventional medical clique refers to as a "cure" isn't much more than medicine show pitchman babble. The truth is, they haven't cured anything.

Oncologists are obsessed with tumors. They enjoy referring to them as "cancer." So they're delighted to cut them out with surgery, burn them up with radiation, or poison them with chemotherapy. This is very much like a farmer tilling, seeding, and cultivating his crop. A nice big crop of cancer cells! Because tumors aren't cancer!! Tumors are there to protect the cancer cells and the only way to cure cancer is to kill those cancer cells and leave their tumors with nothing to protect. This will make the tumors so unhappy, they'll shrivel up and die.

The surgery, radiation, and chemo business doesn't want us to know this. The average cancer treatment costs around $35,000.00. That's a lot of money to leave on the table in favor of offering a cheaper and less profitable treatment that actually cures someone. After all, the cancer business isn't in business for the sheer excitement of it all!

Cutting into tumors releases cancer cells into the bloodstream. That goes for biopsies too. Burning them with radiation won't kill all cancer cells and the survivors will settle themselves into new homes, followed swiftly by their protective bodyguards, new tumors, and many cancer cells are simply impervious to chemotherapy.

There is a very inspiring book around by Dr W. D. Kelley, an orthodontist who was sent home to die of end stage pancreatic cancer. Dr Kelley cured himself and lived another 35 years, meanwhile writing a book about his ordeal. That beats the 1,825 day survival rate of the conventional "cure" by 30 years, doesn't it?

Dr Kelley isn't alone in his victory over cancer. Alternative physicians routinely treat and cure cancer. They have to keep a low profile because they will be effectively silenced if they begin cutting into the cancer money machine too deeply. There is a very very powerful conglommerate of government agencies (surprise, the government doesn't have our best interests at heart), international drug companies, and major treatment hospitals that puts profits first and the devil take the cure! These interests don't want us to learn about the effective alternatives out there.

Most of what we hear about cancer treatments is not the truth. At the very best, we receive an incomplete picture and anyone who develops cancer and believes the propaganda put out by the cancer establishment, is putting his life at risk.

To the cancer establishment, we, as cancer patients, are a profit center. The actual clinical and scientific evidence does not support the claims made by the cancer business. Conventional cancer therapies are in place as the law of the land because they make the most money, not because they heal anyone. Decades of cancer business politics have kept us from knowing this and will continue to do so until we all wake up to the reality.

Our primitive ancestors have linked nutrition, fertility, and healthy babies since virtually the beginning of time. Some cultures, while knowing nothing of nutrition, much less of micronutrients, instinctively prepared for an ensuing pregnancy with special diets for months in advance. Often, both parents participated in this ritual by practicing a lifestyle conducive to a pregnancy that would yield a healthy baby.

In modern days, few of us spend any great deal of time considering diet and lifestyle when it comes to making babies. We leave all that up to nature with an assist from our medical profession. Aside from the biological functions of the mother, we expect to produce a healthy baby with little or no really active participation on our part as parents. Any problems developing during the pregnancy are to be left in the capable hands of our obstetricians. And when the result is less than perfect, our first reaction is to blame the doctor.

The problem here is that few obstetricians understand the nutritional needs of the parents. Both of them. This is simply not a part of their training. And it can be a very important issue. Modern farming methods for example, deprive us of many of the vital nutrients we would normally expect to receive from food. Relate that to poor lifestyle, liberal consumption of fast foods and processed foods and other poor eating habits and any couple anticipating a baby is automatically at risk for having a baby born with defects or health issues of some kind.

There is abundant literature out there exhorting all of us to get our due share of supplements. The advice is all pretty well standardized. The appropriate supplements are all painstakingly tabulated for us, over and over again and again. But the one vital factor that is often overlooked is the supreme importance of a narrow group of supplements referred to as micronutrients. These supplements are most important because it is the micronutrients that eliminate birth defects and consistently produce resoundingly healthy babies.

It is totally unnecessary to have a baby with birth defects. If a pregnant woman does not have enough folic acid (vitamin B9) in her body at the very beginning of her pregnancy, neural tube defects can occur in the fetus, leading inexorably to birth defects. Another micronutrient that is at least as important is iodine. Most people understand that a shortage of iodine causes goiters. That is the least of concerns though. A deficiency of iodine in the mother can cause a malformation in the brain of the fetus, resulting in a lowered IQ in life.

Food processors have been getting the message over time and have been adding these micronutrients to their products in increasing numbers. It pays to read the labels. Many doctors are also gaining an improved understanding of this issue and guiding their patients into getting and keeping the proper nutrients in their bodies. But since it is a lot cheaper to prevent birth defects in the first place than it is to treat them afterward, all parents need to be vigorously pro-active when it comes down to that all important process of bringing a strong and healthy baby into this world.

Back in 1994, some very enterprising entrepreneurs found a new way to make a buck. They invented the DEXA SCAN. DEXA, which stands for Dual Energy X-Ray Absorpiometry, is designed to look into a person's bones and predict the risk of future fractures. And the marketing moguls came out full force on this, assuring everyone, especially women approaching, in, or past, menopause, that they were destined for a fatal hip fracture if they failed to undergo the test.

And then, embracing the best of both worlds, when the test indicated a thinning of bones, as it does with all of us as we age, the patient absolutely needed to be placed on one of the expensive and dangerous bisphosphonate drugs in a heroic effort to avoid the fracture that was certainly lurking in the patient's future. The marketing people even came up with a new disease to help enhance the profit picture. Well, just how accurate are the DEXA Scans in predicting fractures? Some people simply break bones very easily as they age. Others are sturdier and more resistant to fractures. And age, much more than DEXA Scans predicts these fractures. In a study conducted in Finland, it was found that annual fracture rates increase about one per 10,000 women in their early fifties up to about one in 100 women in their late eighties. So while DEXA scores decline (worsen) with age, fracture rates increase much faster than can be explained by the DEXA scores. A number on a test score is a very poor way of rating an illness.

This is simply a way of marketing with fear. The same forces that invented osteopenia also define an entirely natural process, menopause, as an illness! Any physician who follows the National Osteoporosis Foundation (NOF) guidelines and treats all patients with that organization's defined low DEXA score will find that he's failing to address the more than 95% of women who will have a fracture even though they score well on the test. A recent article in the New York Times, describes the food movement's accelerating progress toward local, organic, vegetarian and vegan, foods. In feeding raw milk to her toddler, Hannah Springer was flouting the law in New York and about half of the States that have banned raw milk.

And the national institutions charged with our food safety are 100% against it. That is, The Food & Drug Administration, The Centers for Dieseas Control, The American Medical Association, and the American Academy of Pediatrics, all strongly advise against drinking raw milk. They argue that raw milk could contain harmful pathogens, and that's why milk is pasteurized. Well none of these organizations has an exactly sterling track record of dispensing unbiased, useful, and accurate information. And milk is pasteurized primarily to satisfy the big dairy industry who lobbied aggressively for it.

Pasteurization and homogenization allow for sloppy production methods and increase the shelf life of the product. Pasteurization, contrary to popular belief, does not kill all pathogens in the milk. Its value is limited in this regard, and any benefits are achieved at the expense of losing all the enzymes which are so beneficial to our health.

Add to that the abomination of homogenization, which adds nothing besides increasing shelf life. This process breaks the fat globules into such tiny, submicroscopic particles, that they bypass the digestive system and migrate directly into the bloodstream, causing arterial plaque buildup. The hazards associated with drinking raw milk are largely overstated. There hasn't been a death associated with drinking raw milk in the past 25 years, while pasteurized milk continues to sicken people on a regular basis. The argument that raw milk can be contaminated doesn't hold water. Any food can be contaminated. And the protection given by the lactic acid producing bacteria in raw milk is undeniable, even though raw milk opponents struggle mightily to do so. These friendly bacteria kill bad bugs for hundreds of illnesses.

Another upside to the consumption of raw milk is that its production and distribution, where it is allowed, is heavily regulated. Even the feed given the cows is scrutinized. This is not the case with pasteurized milk production, where the standards are lax to non existent. The quality of raw milk varies widely. Where the production of raw milk is allowed, the consumer can find an incredible variation in the product. Raw milk, ideally, is cow's milk taken straight from animals fed only fresh, organic green grass, rapidly cooled to 36 - 38 degrees, filtered, and bottled.

Raw milk from the big factory farms does not meet these standards. It would be a serious mistake to drink raw milk from these producers. Anyone drinking this stuff is courting a serious illness The potential for toxic drug residues,antibiotics, larvicides, pesticides, fertilizers, and heavy metals in milk from factory farms is high, and this witches brew should certainly not be consumed raw. Even after processing, it's really not worth drinking. And if they have to boil it before they can let you drink it, why would you want to?

OLDER MOTHERS APPEAR MOST AT RISK

Down Syndrome occurs in one in eight hundred births in the U.S. About 5,000 children with Down Syndrome are born in the country annually. The general, conventional belief is that the incidence of this disorder increases with the mother's age, with less than a one in a thousand risk of a woman under thirty having a Down Syndrome baby. The risk is presumed to increase to one in twenty five for the 45 year old mother.

But the National Association for Down Syndrome points out that more current research shows that 80% of babies born with Down Syndrome are to women under 35 years of age! So this suggests very strongly that the mother's age will not determine the actual risk. A close review of current research statistics provides a convincing argument that simply looking at the mother's age will miss 75% of all Down Syndrome cases.

So much for statistics. We need to keep in mind that younger women are much more likely to get pregnant. This fact alone can skew all the statistics doctors are so fond of reciting. A very careful analysis of them brings us back to the original idea that older women have in fact, a higher risk, as individuals, of having a Down Syndrome baby.

TO ABORT OR NOT TO ABORT

The question every woman over 35 and contemplating pregnancy is faced with is; "should I consider screening?" And if the test comes back positive, it then comes down to the question of to abort, or not to abort. For some women, abortion is unthinkable. For others it can be a serious, gut wrenching conflict. Here are some facts every woman pregnant with a Down Syndrome baby needs.

The chances of a lifelong dependency of a Down Syndrome individual are very good.A decided minority go on to become relatively independent adults. All, under the best of circumstances, have mild to moderate disabilities coupled with a wide variation in mental abilities and behavior.

OVER PRESCRIBED PROCEDURES

Ranked high among the most over prescribed and frequently performed medical procedures are the hysterectomy and cesarean section. In the frantic and breakneck pursuit of profits, the medical business places women at the top of the list for high risk, high profit procedures that they don't really need. The simple greed that fuels this push for unnecessary surgeries has reached epidemic proportions and is not likely to be abated any time soon.

THE NUMBERS ARE STAGGERING

There are an estimated 920,000 cesarean sections performed every year, giving that procedure the distinction of being the most common major surgery in America, most of them unneeded. There are about 750,000 hysterectomies performed every year, 90% of which are totally unnecessary, according to Dr Herbert Goldfarb, a gynecologist and assistant clinical professor at New York University's School of Medicine. And each year, 2500 women die during the operation; healthy women who go into the hospital and don't come out.

Women with urinary incontinence are often advised to get hysterectomies along with bladder surgery, neither of which effectively deals with the disorder. A simpler and more effective solution to urinary incontinence in women would be to simply stop smoking. There are numerous studies out there that indicate conclusively that surgery and the use of drugs are not necessary and better options for treatment abound; behavioral techniques, biofeedback, kegel exercises, and acupuncture among them.

OSTEOPOROSIS WAITING IN THE WINGS

Another argument against the hysterectomy is the well defined risk factor of early osteoporosis associated with the procedure. This is because a significant number of women who undergo hysterectomies then suffer from premature loss of ovarian function, or have their ovaries removed during the procedure. Either way, this then results in rapid bone loss.

The most common OB/GYN surgical procedure is the Cesarean Section. Twenty-four percent of all births in the U.S. occur with a C-Section. This as opposed to the Netherlands, where only 8% of births are by C-Section. And in spite of this disparity, American women can point to no health benefits derived from the inordinate use of this surgery. What the whole thing amounts to is that there are about 640,000 unnecessary C-Sections done in the U.S. every year with a morbidity rate (death of mother, child, or both) that is 20 times greater than in vaginal birth.

WHERE IS THE MALPRACTICE?

Unnecessary surgery is not considered medical malpractice! In the U.S., there are 75 million unnecessary surgeries performed annually, raising the cost of health care to astronomical levels, and it doesn't look like the practice will stop any time soon. It's just too profitable.

In 1985, the U.S. Senate Special Committee on Aging found that unnecessary operations were not just wasting money, they were actually shortening lives! Billions of dollars were being wasted on unnecessary surgeries, with these operations increasing by 30% after Medicare went into effect. Even the American College of Surgeons and the American Surgical Association conceded that 30% of the millions of procedures performed each year were unnecessary surgeries.

WOMEN NEED TO EDUCATE THEMSELVES

The consensus of alternative physicians who are deeply concerned about this issue is that the best defense against being coerced into an unnecessary hysterectomy, or any other surgery, is information! THE EARLY BLUNDER

In the early 1940's a drug was developed for the prevention of miscarriages and pregnancy complications. Against the advice of its creator, Sir Charles Dodd, Big Pharma went all out to promote the use of this drug as the answer to miscarriages and pregnancy complications. Known commonly as DES, (diethylstilboestrol) this drug was the first non-steroidal estrogen drug. Over the ensuing years, the drug was given to between four and six million American and European women and 10,000 Australian women and it took 30 years of disastrous results before Big Pharma came around to acknowledging there was a problem with the drug. Meanwhile mothers found themselves faced with a 50% greater risk of developing breast cancer. In addition, the children of these mothers showed, as much as twenty years later, a high evidence of reproductive abnormalities, miscarriages, vaginal cancer, testicular cancer, sterility, and immune dysfunction. The accumulation of horror stories surrounding this drug finally induced the producers to remove it from the market.

REVAMPING A FAILED PRODUCT

Never to be inhibited by this tragic turn, Big Pharma soon found a new garbage drug to foist off on women under the guise of helping them. Tamoxifen, developed out of the DES research became the darling of the pharmaceutical industry. Heavily promoted as an effective preventive of breast cancer and its recurrence, it is today used by more women with breast cancer than any other prescription drug. And to the delight of Big Pharma, it generates a half billion dollars in revenue annually. Of absolutely no consequence, in the profit picture, is the fact that after another 30 years of use, Tamoxifen can point to only minimal benefits within the ocean of negative indicators associated with this drug. The side effects can be horrific and lethal:

Menopausal sypmptoms in young women.
Eye damage.
Blood clots
Psychological symptoms.
Asthma
Vocal cord changes.
Liver cancer.
Uterine cancer.

Gastrointestinal cancer.

In spite of this, the pharmaceutical industry continues to strenuously push forward with its unconscionable marketing programs. The National Cancer Institute, a prime recipient of Big Pharma grants, enthusiastically endorses this faulty product. This in spite of a September 2000 study in the Lancet reporting that the drug Tamoxifen increased the risk of endometrial cancer! The study found that women taking Tamoxifen for two to five years had twice the risk of developing cancer as women who had never taken it. The study further found that women who had taken the drug for more than five years had seven times the risk.

RISKS WELL KNOWN

These findings are really nothing new. In 1996 an international consortium of scientists published a review identifying Tamoxifen as a human carcinogen which will increase a woman's risk of developing uterine cancer. These findings did little to deter the pharmaceutical researchers from shrugging it all off by declaring that such cancers are easily treatable. What they failed to consider though is that breast cancer patients who develop uterine cancer while using Tamoxifen are very likely to develop a fast moving, lethal form of this cancer that is extemely difficult to treat effectively.

THE DRUG DOES HAVE SOME VALUE - BUT IS IT WORTH IT?

Tamoxifen is not without its benefits. It has in fact helped many women avoid breast cancer. But do the risks outweigh the benefits? Big Pharma and those it pays and supports say yes. Many others say no. So what are the alternatives?

A QUESTIONABLE TRACK RECORD
The American Academy of Pediatrics is the same organization that advocates cholesterol screening for infants as young as two and placing those with elevated cholesterol levels on statin drugs beginning immediately and continuing through life. While the manufacturer is very quick to call Splenda "natural," this artificial sweetener is still nothing less than a chemical concoction. Only slightly less of an abomination are bypass surgery, the use of statins to control cholesterol, and bisphosphonates for osteoporosis.. All of these treatments have safer, cheaper, and more effective alternative treatments available. All of these alternative treatments, no matter how effective, are scoffed at, ridiculed, and actively suppressed by the conventional medical establishment.

THE EMERGING ALTERNATIVES
One very effective treatment for a number of disorders is opposed by the conventional clique almost to the point of hysteria. It is a treatment generally referred to as Ozone Therapy. Not withstanding that it is being used extensively, safely, and with great benefit throughout Europe, we cannot get it here! The conventional clique in the U.S. has persecuted the doctors attempting to use it to the point where it is virtually unavailable in this country. The reason for this is partly that Hydrogen Peroxide is part of the normal metabolism. The body produces it constantly and it is the first line of defense against any disease- causing bacteria, while allowing the friendly bacteria in the intestines to thrive. That is because bacteria that produce disease, and only those that do, are Anaerobic. These pathogens use carbon dioxide for fuel and leave oxygen as a by-product. All viruses are anaerobic; all cancer cells are anaerobic. Theoretically, overloading anaerobic cells with oxygen is lethal to them and the validity of this seems to be consistently borne out by the results obtained through the employment of Bio-Oxidative Medicine, an alternative to the conventional dogma.

CONVENTIONS DIE HARD

BIO-OXIDATIVE THERAPY
In Bio-Oxidative Therapy, oxygen is introduced directly into the body as hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) or as Ozone (O3). Ozone works more directly than hydrogen peroxide but the end result is the same. Avandia, an FDA approved drug for type 2 diabetes has generated a 30% to 40% increased risk of heart attack in those taking them short term (6 months). The October issue of the Archives of Pediatric & Adolescent Medicine has published a study that finds the vaccinations of young children (or anyone else for that matter), against influenza "could not be verified as significant in preventing influenza in anyone regardless of age." This is in the obtuse language of the medical community in their almost pathological need to keep any useful information out of the hands of us uninitiated peasants. I do believe they'd love it if none of us were allowed to learn to read. In plain English, flu shots are worthless.

Well, maybe that's not convincing. How about this, then? There is some very credible evidence cropping up, accepted by a growing number of so called alternative physicians, that at least some cases of Alzheimer's Disease are caused by flu shots.

Flu shots contain three very potent toxins; mercury, aluminum, and formaldehyde. Most flu vaccines contain 25 mcg of mercury, categorized by our sterling FDA as a "trace amount." Well, this "trace amount" is a totally unsafe amount unless you weigh 600 pounds! This is 250 times the EPA safety limit for mercury. Really makes you long for some kind of rudimentary coordination among our government bureaucracies. This stuff is a very very potent neurotoxin! Well, Big Pharma is out in force promoting their failing flu vaccine again. Last December they got New Jersey to require all kids from 6 months to 5 years to get flu shots or be barred from day care and preK programs. She has even gone so far as to persuade the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) to recommend prescribing statins for children as young as eight! That's just incredible! How and in what manner did they manage to pay off the AAP? Where on earth is the common sense for Pete's sake? When kids are allowed to get so fat that they begin having health problems, wouldn't it be much more expedient to look at what is causing the problems in the first place - obesity - not "high cholesterol?" And anyway, in spite of what the big drug advertisers want us to believe, cholesterol never killed anybody!
